North Dakota Beans

Ingredients

1 lb good hamburger (we use 94/6)

1 lb smoked sausage

1 lb bacon

1 onion, chopped

1 can pork & beans

1 can kidney beans

1 can green lima beans

2 T regular mustard

¼ c ketchup

2 T Worcestershire sauce

¼ c brown sugar

1 – 2 cans beef broth (we use low sodium)

Instructions

Cut bacon into 2 inch pieces; cook and drain excess fat; set aside.  Combine hamburger, chopped onion, salt & pepper in a large skillet.  Salt & Pepper to taste & saute; add smoked sausage and heat.  In a large pot or crock pot (we used a regular pot), add pork and beans, kidney beans, green lima beans, mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, bacon pieces & hamburger/sausage mixture and about half a can of beef broth.  Simmer for 2 hours, adding more beef broth as needed.  NOTE:  If you use a crock pot, you will need to stir about every hour until done.  Serve with a hot pan of crispy cornbread.
