Sweet & Spicy Baked Beans

Ingredients

1/2  lb lean ground meat

1/2  teaspoon onion powder

2  cans (28 oz. each) baked beans

1  can (20 oz.) unsweetened crushed pineapple, drained

1  cup spicy barbecue sauce

1/2  cup molasses

2  tablespoon prepared mustard

1/2  teaspoon black pepper

1/4  teaspoon salt

1  can (6 oz.) french-fried onions

6  bacon strips, cooked and crumbled, divided

 

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a skillet, cook ground meat and onion powder. Breaking up meat into small crumbles. Drain grease off or use a paper towel to soak up any grease. Set it aside.

Cook bacon in the oven or microwave until crispy. Break up bacon into small pieces.

In a large bowl, combine beans, pineapple, barbecue sauce, molasses, mustard, the ground meat, salt and pepper. Stir to combine well, then add half of french-fried onions and bacon.

Grease a 13x9 inch casserole dish. Transfer the bean mixture into the baking dish. Cover with foil; bake for 45 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining onions and bacon on top. Bake uncovered for 5-10 more minutes.
