ginger chip cookies
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar + 1/4 cup for dipping tops
1 egg
3 tablespoons dark molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven at 350 degrees.
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar; add egg and molasses. In smaller bowl add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Whisk to combine the dry ingredients. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and blend until smooth dough forms.
Stir in the semisweet chocolate chips. Shape in 1-inch balls. Dip tops of balls in sugar.
Place dipped sign up on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. After minutes on cookie sheet remove to wire rack to cool.
