Creamed Peas

Ingredients:

1 package frozen peas (10 ounces)

1 Tablespoon salted butter

1 Tablespoon all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Instructions:

Cook peas according to package directions. Melt the butter in small saucepan. Stir in the flour, salt and black pepper until combined. Gradually add milk and sugar. Bring to a boil, turn burner down, cook and stir until thickened; this should take about 2 minutes. Drain cooked peas, add peas to the sauce and cook for about a minute, or until peas are heated.
