Italian Meatball Buns
Ingredients
12 frozen bread dough dinner rolls
1 package (12 ounces) frozen fully cooked Italian meatballs, thawed
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup minced fresh basil
1 ½ cups your favorite marinara sauce, warmed
Instructions
Let dinner rolls dough stand at room temp for about half hour, or, until softened. Cut each roll in half. Wrap each portion around a meatball, making sure to enclose meatball completely. Pinch dough firmly to seal. Place seamed side down on greased or parchment lined baking sheet. Cover with clean dishtowel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, or about 1 ½ - 2 hours.
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake buns 12 – 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush tops with oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and basil. Serve with hot marinara sauce.
