Chessy Skillet Pizza Dip

Ingredients

8 tablespoons butter, one stick

2. Teaspoons garlic powder, divided

1/2. Teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1  package (16oz.) frozen bread dough dinner rolls, thawed

1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened

2  Cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1  cup mayonnaise

1 1/2. Teaspoons Italian seasoning

3/4. Cup pizza sauce

1/4  cup sliced pepperoni

3  tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

2  tablespoons minced fresh basil

Instructions

Microwave butter, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and red pepper flakes, cover the bowl.

Cut each roll into thirds. Roll each piece into a ball and dip in butter mixture. In a 10-inch cast iron skillet or oven safe dish, place each roll along the edge leaving the center open.  Gently stack another row on top of first roll leaving space between each roll. Cover and let rise until doubled or about 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake until rolls are set and begin to brown, 15-18 minutes.

In a bowl combine cream cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, and the remaining garlic powder and mix well. Spoon mixture into the center of skillet. Layer 1/2 cup mozzarella and pizza sauce on top of mixture. Top with the other 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Brush with remaining butter mixture; sprinkle top with Parmesan.

Bake until dip is heated through, and rolls are brown, about 10 minutes. You may need to loosely cover with foil if rolls start to get too brown.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with basil.
